Join BOND to Learn, Give, and Connect!

We would like for you to consider joining Branching Out In New Directions (BOND).

Our members’ activities have enabled us to enhance the lives of local scholarship recipients and engage in valuable community service projects. We have donated significant amounts of money that we have raised through very modest contributions built into BOND’s many member activities.  These donations are made through BOND’s Scholarship Fund, and also in support of mainstay organizations such as providing Holiday Gift baskets, Food Baskets and career development services.

BOND volunteers also contribute their time and talent to support community needs. Working with public schools, several dozen BOND volunteers assist in staffing creative early childhood development programs serving children in needy families. Helping families celebrate holidays annually by assembling gift baskets is another community service focus.

We invite you not only to join, but to become an active participant in our activities. You can participate in study groups, book review groups, bridge, lunch and dinner groups, fundraising activities, and many other activities in the company of friendly and interesting women. You are welcome to attend Board meetings and share your ideas and interests.

You will find information about our study groups and other activities on this website, as well as a member interest questionnaire. We hope you will get involved and attend as many programs as you can.

We look forward to meeting you at our events in the near future. Please e-mail us if you have any questions or would like a member registration form sent to you in the mail.

How Members Connect

Part of the mission of Branching Out in New Directions is to arrange for social interaction among members.

Three meetings of the full membership anchor the annual calendar — a Fall Luncheon and a Spring Annual Meeting.  We also have an annual summer fundraiser, Book Authors, consisting of dinner and an author speaker and three authors presenting the following morning.  A luncheon concludes the event.

These are festive occasions in prime locations such as Twin Cities area country clubs and hotels.  Members gather around large tables to hear featured speakers, socialize and partake in excellent cuisine.

BOND members organize smaller gatherings that are primarily social in nature:

  • A Lunch Bunch gathers on the fourth Wednesday of each month to enjoy lunch at different restaurants.  Voluntary contributions are collected from each participating member.
  • Dinner Winners is the name of a similar gathering that meets on the second Wednesday evening of each month.  Voluntary contributions are collected from each participant.
  • On the first Tuesday each month, a Play Bridge group gets together at noon and play at 1:00pm.  Voluntary contributions are collected from each participant.

Members treasure the lasting friendships these gatherings foster.

Charitable funds collected at BOND social gatherings are contributions to BOND’s Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for qualified people in the Twin Cities area in need of funding for academic or professional advancement programs.
