Register for Study Groups

Our study groups are a unique way to enrich our lives and to connect with others.  Each year those of us who participate in study groups discover new friends and renew old acquaintances, while becoming a stronger BOND family in the process.

When you join a study group, your money stays in the Twin Cities to help our organization meet its goals.

Registrants must be paid-up members.  A non-member may attend one session per year and must pay the fee.  Registrations are handled by the registrar. Unless notified, you are enrolled in the study groups you have paid for.  There will be no refunds unless a study group is cancelled or oversubscribed and you will be notified.  Since many events have limited attendance, please register as soon as possible to guarantee your space.

YOUR CHECK IS YOUR RESERVATION.

  • The BOND book discussion group meets on the third Friday morning of each month.
  • Members take turns as hostess or facilitator.
  • The facilitator offers information about the author, as well as reviews and criticism of the book.
  • Current or recent works of fiction and non-fiction are read.

All BOND members, as well as guests, are welcome.

Coffee is served at 9:30 am; discussion begins at 10:00.

We request a $2 donation at the door per participant.  All monies collected from BOND Study Groups are contributions to BOND’s Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for qualified people in the Twin Cities area in need of funding for academic or professional advancement programs.

Short Story Discussion Group

The BOND Wednesday Short Story Group has 20-25 loyal literature enthusiasts, who are galvanized by the fact that a 10-page story can have as exciting plot as a 300-page novel. Each year the group selects an anthology that includes mesmerizing short works in styles from magical realism to fictionalized true tales, compiled by a guest editor. Members volunteer to host at their home or party room, and take turns doing some research on the author and leading the discussion.

It is safe to say that BOND members who attend Short Story Group put those second Wednesdays of each month first and foremost. Revealed in each concise tale are universal, life-affirming themes that are not soon forgotten.

Short Story Discussion Group meetings are usually on the second Wednesday morning of the month and held at the Party Room at the RidgePointe West complex in Minnetonka.  A $1 donation to the BOND Scholarship Fund is requested from each participant.  Coffee is served at 9:30 am, and the discussion begins at 10 am.
