Fundraising

Since its founding in 2008, BOND’s fundraising efforts have been focused on providing scholarships for Twin Cities post-secondary students and adults in need of specialized training for re-entry into the workplace.

Most regularly-scheduled BOND activities, even some of those that seem to be primarily educational or social, are, in fact, means through which the organization raises its scholarship funds. Attendees contribute one or two dollars to each book, short story or film discussion group they attend, and each bridge game and lunch or dinner group in which they participate.  It all adds up.

Of course, there are also major annual fundraising activities, such as the annual Book/Author event, special-interest luncheons and speaker events, as well as the annual sale of dining discount cards.  Retailers such as Chico’s and Herbergers partner with BOND to raise funds through designation of a portion of retail sales revenues on a particular date for the BOND Scholarship Fund and the sale of discount coupon books to store customers by BOND volunteers.

On an ongoing basis, members and the general public may purchase tribute cards as a special way to say “thank you,” to send a “get well” wish, to offer condolences and to celebrate anniversaries, B’nai Mitzvahs and even friendships.

Checks for memorials and other donations to BOND may be addressed to BOND or Branching Out in New Directions and mailed, with an indication on the check of the person(s) being memorialized or honored, to:  10046 Cove Drive, Minnetonka, MN 55305-5801.

BOND awards scholarship funding to needy candidates screened by the Minneapolis Jewish Family and Children’s Service and Jewish Vocational Service, and through Jewish Family Service of St. Paul.  Also, the organization has made a commitment to provide financial assistance to women in the Domestic Abuse Collaborative toward the costs of training for re-entry into the workplace.
