WE THOUGHT WE KNEW……
By Sheila Goldstein, Philanthropy and Community Service
After checking out the principles of the Sojourn Program presented to us, it was decided that this was a project worthy of BOND’s support under our Community Service Mission. There were no BOND expenses, only the fee for lunch and whatever individuals decided to donate as a shower gift.
Susanna Lodge agreed to chair the project as our representative along with the Women’s Leagues of Beth El and Adath Jeshurun. After several planning meetings the day for the shower occurred on Tuesday, April 27.
The lunch was delicious and the camaraderie was wonderful. However, the highlight of the afternoon was the presentation by Laura Sisterman, along with the director of the project, Helen Chargo.
..That the Sojourner Project Center is located in Minnetonka
..That the people were afforded so many options and resources
.. That there were no age or gender limits, so men and seniors were included
..That this non-profit is available 24/7
..That their crisis line had 2900 calls in one year
..That they have a partnership with 16 communities, police and social workers.
AND MOST OF ALL..
…THANK YOU TO SUSANNA LODGE FOR HER SUPERB LEADERSHIP AND TO OUR COMMITTEE AND ATTENDEES WHO HAVE MADE THIS EVENT A HUGE SUCCESS
